The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has launched a partnership with Tribe Culture First to bring the viewing experience of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to all sixteen regions of Ghana.
The initiative aims to ensure that people do not have to travel outside their communities to watch the matches.
The Chief Executive Officer of GTA, Maame Efua Houadjeto, emphasised that the project will have both economic impact and foster community engagement.

“We are not just launching; we are witnessing a dream come true. We are igniting the National Experience 16 by 16 Project, a bold, inclusive, and forward-looking activation designed to bring the FIFA World Cup closer to every Ghanaian. Ghanaians are passionate about football, and while not everyone will be able to travel to Canada, the US, or Mexico, many will be here cheering for our team. This 16 by 16 project is for you. We do not want to leave anyone out, regardless of economic status.
“The 16 x 16 initiative will provide free, high-quality public viewing experiences across all 16 regions of Ghana. It will create opportunities for citizens to come together to watch, celebrate, and connect during the World Cup period from June 11 to July 12, 2026. This is not just about football, but also tourism, community engagement, identity, and economic stimulation,” she explained.
The partnership will enable the GTA to broadcast selected World Cup matches in cities and towns across all 16 regions, ensuring that residents can fully enjoy the tournament.
