The University of Development Studies (UDS) has qualified to the finals of the 2026 Honda Football Championship after beating University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS).

Standing in their way was a UBIDS side that had already proven throughout the tournament that they are no pushover, having won two out of their three group stage games.

From the first whistle, it was clear this was going to be a battle. Both sides came out playing intense football with strong defensive structures that made it difficult for either team to find a way through.

The game was tight, tense and competitive, with neither side willing to take unnecessary risks.

For 53 minutes, the deadlock held. Both goalkeepers were tested and both defenses were working overtime to keep the game goalless. Just when it seemed like the game was heading for extra time, UDS number 5, Zakavia Alhassan, stepped up and delivered.

His goal in the 53rd minute was all UDS needed, and they held on from there to seal a hard-fought 1-0 victory and lock in their place in the final.

UDS will now face the University of Ghana (UG) in the final of the 2026 Honda Football Championship tomorrow at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

Kick off is at 6:30pm. It has been a dramatic journey for UDS and it will be the biggest game of their tournament.
