Ghana Premier League legend, Charles Taylor has disclosed that some officials of Accra Hearts of Oak attempted to ruin his career when he left the club to join arch-rivals Asante Kotoko.
Charles Taylor controversially moved from Hearts of Oak to join the Porcupine Warriors in 2003 for a then-record domestic transfer fee of roughly $42,000.
Taylor essentially boycotted training at Hearts of Oak and refused to play matches in order to force the move.

Years after the transfer, the legendary player disclosed that his departure did not sit well with some club officials, who allegedly resorted to black magic, locally known as juju to derail his career through injuries.
Speaking in an interview with Sporty FM, Taylor claimed that the officials handed him over to a fetish priest to destroy him spiritually by injuring his leg.
“I believe there is black magic in football, but it is used to cause destruction, not to help players. Following my move to Kotoko, somebody was using juju to destroy me, and the person confirmed it. Like we are sitting here, my leg would have been swollen.
"In Asante Bekwai, there is a man called Papa Anwona, you can even contact him. I went to his place with a policeman who disguised himself as an ordinary person. In the man’s shrine, he had my picture on the wall, crippled with an iron rod, and cuts of chicken blood on it,” he said in Twi.
Taylor further noted that the fetish priest revealed the identity of the officials and lamented how the attack took a toll on his career due to persistent injuries.
“The man said it pained him to do that to me. He told me Kanawu of Hearts of Oak tasked him to do it and mentioned four people’s names. My leg was nearly amputated, and that’s why I struggled. It got to a point where I had to take injections before playing matches, so it became weak,” he added.
