Legends Don’t Curse Their Own House
Let’s be clear and honest.
You cannot be a Hearts of Oak legend by day and a juju victim by night. Football history doesn’t work like that, and neither does common sense.
Charles Taylor wants us to believe Hearts of Oak—an institution that built him, celebrated him, and profited from his brilliance—suddenly sat down and destroyed its own investment. That is not football logic; that is folklore.
If Hearts of Oak practices juju, then it must be the most selective juju in world football—targeting one player while hundreds before, during, and after him trained, won trophies, traveled abroad, and retired in peace. Institutions don’t burn the house they live in.
Even more puzzling: we are told the alleged juju man confessed, yet his name is hidden, protected, and immune—while the club is publicly accused. That is not truth. That is storytelling.
Now let’s educate, because football in 2026 is not guesswork.
Lower-limb pain and swelling—what ends many careers—are medically explained. Overuse injuries, chronic inflammation, nerve compression, venous or lymphatic disorders, biomechanical imbalance, and poor injury management are common in elite athletes. These are diagnosed with MRIs, ultrasounds, blood work, and sports science—not spiritual admissions.
Pushing juju narratives is dangerous. It undermines sports medicine and unfairly brands Ghanaian players abroad as mystical projects instead of trained professionals. That hurts the next generation more than any injury ever could.
Chapter 9 knows this difference:
Legends criticize to build.
Bitterness criticizes to destroy.
Hearts of Oak is bigger than any one career. It stood before Charles Taylor, rose with him, and remains strong after him.
Football history is written with facts, not fear.
And Hearts of Oak remains Hearts of Oak.

UNLOCK the MASTERPIECE in you - Your best budget this year is your "Training & Personal Development Budget".Train for better daily income this year - Phones break every day. Smartphone repair & accessories is one of the few skills that still pays daily, even in hard times. People fix them the same day, that's money changing hands fast. Many unemployed people, even those with jobs — are learning this skill quietly to support themselves, or gifting the book to train siblings, relatives, or community youths. Buy copies to empower others. GET Chukky Oparandu’s guide - it breaks it down clearly for beginners: repairs, flashing, accessories sales — the skill opens doors into IT careers. No big capital. Just a skill you earn from once you apply it. If you’re planning ahead for 2026, this is one move people are already making. Rush now, Search “Chukky Oparandu” on Amazon or visit selar.co/m/chukky (French edition "Gagnez de l'Argent en Réparant des Téléphones & Tablettes" Available!). I am surprised at Charles. As someone who was very much involved in this matter, I will be giving you all what really transpired. Maybe some Hearts fans were angry and did what they did. But it was not sanctioned by the management team of Hearts. Why would we destroy him and them went an d bought him from Etoile du Sahel back to the team? We loved Charles without any conditions. He betrayed us. Stay tuned

As ai promised I am back.
I am surprised Charles is still at this issue. As someone involved in his transfer saga, let me tell you what really happened.
It started with Charles, accompanied by his best friend (whom he called a brother, by name Seth Agyei) with his manager, George, came to Chairman Tommy Okine's office opposite Batholomew (near General Post Office) to sign his contract extension. The amount we agreed on was a 100 million old cedis back then. He was paid cash (not a cheque) of 50 million as down payment to which he signed a receipt for and Seth witnessed. He did same to the contract extension document. The 3 of them left Tommy's office with the cash. We got to hear later that he said Hearts gave him a cheque which bounced. That was a palpable lie. Apparently, from Chairman Tommy’s office, they went to SSB Ring Road (the one then opposite Nima Police Station). That branch is now closed, but near the Mantse Tackie Tawiah Overpass. At the bank, it became apparent that he, Charles, did not have a bank account. So they paid the cash into George's account and then George issued a cheque to cover the amount and to be paid into Charles' account when it is opened. Apparently, George’s cheque bounced. So that was the first twisting of the story Charles put out with the help of the Peace FM Sports team back then. They said Hearts’ cheque o=bounced. Till date they never produce the said cheque to have been issued by Hearts. At the GFA Player Status hearing, the real cheque from George was tendered as the cheque from Hearts. Imagine how we had a good laugh over that.
Now came in Jonathan Laryea. He was the one who first Charles to Hearts of Oak in 2000. He lived in Teshie. About 2 years after signing Charles, Charles, his father and a gentleman called George came to us Hearts Management to check if Charles’ money was paid to Jonathan. We confirmed that. His father then mentioned that Charles never got any of the money paid, so he has changed Charles’ manager from Jonathan to George. Let me mention that Jonathan was the one who discovered Charles in Sefwi Asawinso and brought him to Accra and to Olympics.
Jonathan got angry and somehow reunited with Charles after taking money from Sylvester Asare (the then chairman of Kotoko). They also gave him a Ford or a Dodge Van. So they started the fake story that Hearts cheque bounced. Meanwhile remember, Hearts never gave Charles a cheque. Jonathan took Charles to Kumasi to even play a friendly match for Kotoko. Later the GFA ruled against Kotoko for tapping the player while he was under contract with Hearts.
If Charles is crying today, someone should ask him whether Alhaji Hearts did not kneel down to beg him and Jonathan in Jonathan’s house in Teshie when we visited to talk about the matter. Does he think that was a blessing? Of course Jonathan was angry with us because he felt we had dealt with George, But the instructions came from Charles’ own father.
When all these was happening, we had secured a deal with Grasshoppers in Switzerland for Charles. Charles rejected that and said, and I quote him verbatim “I am not going to any Switzerland. I will play for Kotoko for a hundred years”. It was not easy. We had to pull out of Grasshoppers discussions. The agent was an Ivoirian lady. I have forgot her name. So Charles caused his own issues.
We may not be saints, but Charles’ problems were self-inflicted. Prince Agyemang also did the same thing and messed himself up.
Most definitely, some Hearts fans may have been pained, and they decided to go the “juju” way. But it was not sanctioned by the management team. The management had no knowledge of that. We gladly welcomed him back to the team. How could we have destroyed him and bring him back, if we had any bitterness against him. We loved him like our own son.
After the GFA ruling of “tapping”. Kotoko paid the 400 million and also negotiated for Charles’ release. We had then submitted his name to CAF for the 2004 African Champion League tournament. We withdrew his name and Kotoko submitted it to CAF, That year 2 Ghanaian Clubs were allowed to enter the competition, a grace Ghanaian clubs enjoyed from Hearts winning the cup in 2000.
The last time he also said Hearts promised them $25,000. That is true, but it had a caveat that they will be paid from the FIFA money. This was well explained to the players an technical team by the then board Chairman, Uncle Ato Ahwoi. You will recall Hearts was to play in the World Club Championships Cup. However the tournament was cancelled by by FIFA due to the outbreak on SARS in 2001. Hearts never go the funds from FIFA. Meanwhile some of the finds were paid to player when we received some pittance from FIFA as compensation.
