I think that penalty was missed on purpose.Upon all VAR, African players and officials are still fighting for accurate decisions on the pitch.

Carefully choreographed post-penalty events to save the face of the competition. Now we have a rare insight into the murky backroom manipulations of international football competitions. When fans have in the past protested these inconceivably obvious interventions, they've been waved off ass crass nonsense. Anyone with a brain felt, before they saw and processed the dramatic scenes that preceded and followed the Moroccan penalty. Deeply ironic that it was all staged for the SANCTITY of the game.
P.S. Even the Moroccans knew they were not deserving of the trophy and their body language was shocking and historically uncharacteristic and yet apt on the occasion.
Fair play to the game:-)(•‿•)

The coach then told Diaz to play a panenka and Mendy was told of the panenka hence he stood and waited for the ball. WOW!!! That was an award winning movie.

People asking why the Senegal players did not celebrate much? Let me explain… they had already ACCEPTED the outcome when they returned. They left the pitch because they BELIEVED that if Morocco takes the penalty Morocco will score! and to them the proceedings has been unfair. When they returned, they had returned with a mindset to ACCEPT the loss as a likely outcome! When Morocco missed the penalty, perhaps, out of Diaz’s over-confidence, arrogance, or to use a new-age term “aura-farming” with a Panenka, perhaps to prove his pedigree and humiliate Senegal, the failure was an embarrassing outcome to Morocco and contrastingly a Shocking outcome to Senegal. Shock does not permit Senegal to celebrate, not even a nice shock will allow that, only an element of surprise, a smile and thank you God from the reactions of Mendy and also the Senegalese coach, Pape Thiaw.

Is goalkeeper Mendy not a Senegal player? Did he mourn after saving the penalty. Didn't we see him jump up in joy?

Regarding penalty, no matter how experience you are, if you experience heart burn, you'll surely miss it. This is what happened to gyan in world cup. Neyam shee no intia. Ask messy or cr7 they will tell you. This is the secret. Bear in mind that the first time one attempt to achieve a major there'll of course be a failure unless you are well built. In 2021 mane lost first penalty against Egypt on afcon final but in his second penalty he build confidence that helped him scored
