Hearts fall again in league match

Obuasi, Jan. 20, GNA - Struggling Obuasi Ashgold beat crest fallen Accra Hearts of Oak by a lone goal in their 19th Week Premier League match at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Wednesday night.

Both sides played an all attacking game throughout the 90 minutes with none giving up the fight with occasional attempts at goal but the strikers failed to convert eh chance that came their way. However it was Ashgold who had the upper hand as the game approached the half hour mark when they earned a free-kick in the 43rd minute, which Emmanuel Adjetey's kick was connected home by Samson Cudjoe for the opener and the match winner after a head on collision with Hearts keeper Sammy Adjei.

Hearts protested vehemently but it did nothing to change the decision of the referee who stuck to his guns. Back from recess, Hearts fought for the equalizer but Douglass Nkrumah, Mahatma Otoo, Owusu Afriyie and Obed Ansah, out of desperation failed to convert the chances that came their way to get the much needed equalizer with some good saves made by Fatau Dawuda. The Miners nearly increased the tally in the 88th minute but substitute Philemon McCarthy who took over from injured Sammy Adjei, managed to push the ball to corner with the resulted kick wasted. 20.
