In a way yes but in a way no. Let me explain if you play in a top league whether it be Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1, MLS or Bundesliga you will get more exposure as a potential Black Stars call up. But if you play in lower leagues or even in GPL; then you basically have to work twice as hard to get a call up meaning you have to be scoring goals and doing it consistently to even get noticed.

The current squad does not include any GPL field players as they are still in pre-season and most of the GOL players are not yet in good condition for the upcoming matches.

Until the government be bold enough to interfere in the affairs of our national teams, we may take two steps forward and more so take 7 steps backwards.

How many players were playing in Europe back in the days? times have changed bro. It is not what it is. All the best players in the league are sold out and now a days young talents are sold out before they grow to become Stars, so what do you want Otto Addo to do? If Otto Addo was your brother would you have advised him to select Kamaldeen Mamudu and Razak Simpson? let us stop this selfish attitude and allow the coach to select his choice of players, after all he was not.hired to call local players

All the good talents are scouted and land contracts in Europe before 20 years. Any local player above 20 can only be transferred to Ethiopia, Rwandan, Iraq... You mentioned some of them. We all made noises about the inclusion of the likes of danlad, banie, abagna, quaye and the rest, in previous tournament within the last five years. Where are those guys. My belief is simple only best must play for the national team. That bogus quota system suggestion must stop. The best local talents are being groomed in the various academies to be transferred to European teams.

Every time Blackstars are called up somebody's must come up and tell us that based on history we must call local players and then magic would happen? Are the abroad ones not human as well or Ghanaians? How would the writer of the article feel if I say a primary school boy is better than him or that trainee journalist are more trustworthy than him? Do you know what it takes for the players to get to play for those European teams? Do you know what we call winter? You know how many has got injured on National duty? Stop insulting people by telling them that the CHAN Ghana players are better or trustworthy than the abroad based players on no basis at all but bogus history and just feeling. You are a rubbish journalist and your argument may be common sense but not rational. 1 plus 1 is 2and 1 times 1 is one but 2 plus 2 is 4 and 2times 2 is 4 so common sense argument is not always rational mr useless journalist

More, after every league season the few good players are transferred to clubs in Vietnam, Malaysia, India, Tanzania and Zambia. Do we expect the coach of the Black Stars to select players from these clubs?

Times have really changed for our local league where young talented players are quickly sold to Europe. Yes, someone may be scoring goals in the GPL, but you have to factor in the opposition they face as compared to Europe. Comparing statistics (numbers) from unequal leagues is not a fair judgment. The locals even fail to compete in CHAN

The problem is the introduction of the so call soccer acceamy into the country to replace the colts system of raising players from the youth level. All the good and potentials are sold to low level teams cheaply by the acceamy owners. The local league is now made up of those who could not made it in the acceamy. When was the last time you see any potential players in the local league from any soccer acceamy. These has affected the quality of players we get to play the local league and they are not able to meet the black Star standards. Even the local CHAN AFCon. For local players Ghana can't qualify. The standard is low. Susan is made up of 98 percent local coach by our own Kwasi Appiah.
The solution is to regulate the soccer acceamies.
Which is not easy to do. To be honest with you the best youth don't want to play for the even hearts and kotoko academy because you will not go abroad early. Above all it is financial issues. Poor economy send the good potential ones out before their time. And when they go to those cheap and low countries at the Early age they never make it to the top.
