Canon Club is one of the oldest club in Africa. The team was very popular in the 70s where they played against Kotoko on several occasions. I think it was somewhere in 1972 where Kotoko met the finals. Kotoko abandoned the match because of bias officiating.
Kotoko won the first leg 3-0 in Kumasi and lost the second leg in Yaounde in Cameroon. Kotoko should have been awarded the cup based on goals aggregate. To everyone's surprise, CAF ordered a third to be the decider, but Kotoko would be given the cup. Canon took the lead but Kotoko equalized few minutes to time. The goal was scored by Baby Pele Enoch Esuman from a corner kick. The referee ruled the goal offside. Kotoko walked off the field in protest.
