Razak was the star player of the 1978 African cup of Nations. He put up a brilliant performance and capped it up with two brilliant goals with included the tournaments best the Golden goal. Polo who was then recovering from an injury had a quiet tournament while sharing the left wing position with Kuntu Blankson. For me there was nothing as graceful and more elegant than seeing the Golden boy on the ball an was easily identifiable due to his complexion. He did not indulge in unnecessary over elaboration and would rather drop a shoulder to outwit an opponent to avoid crunching tackles. For somebody who started following football fron 1978, I had never seen a better Ghanain footballer than Razak until Abedi Pele burst unto the scene. He was more prominent on the continent than Polo due to his exploits with Asante Kotoko, the Black Stars and Arab contractors whom he helped to win the African Championship trophy in the mid 1980s. He was a real great player.

Mohammed Polo, the dribbling magician, was like Messi, you couldn't take the ball off him. He was simply mesmerizing, and every defender's nightmare. To this day, anyone with dribbling ability is called "Polo". Even Kotoko's Opoku Nti was called "Tarkwa Polo". Abdul Razak was more like Zidane, calm and very gifted with ball sense, and could score special goals. He won the CAF player of 1978 for his intelligent contributions to the team as an attacking midfielder. But Polo was the more electrifying player, drawing huge crowds who flocked to watch his unbelievable skills and ball control. They were both great Ghanaian players.

i say abedi pele is the best gh soccer player. the guy could do things with the ball i could only dream of. ive watched clips of polo and razal. polo was a master dribbler, big n strong guy. razak plays with power and crunching strength like cameroonian players but abedi does it all. just look at his videos on youtube in a marseille jersey. the guy played with brute strength, he can run, dribble, juggle the ball during the match and plus he does all types of acrobatics with the ball. scissor kicks, dangbleshi, bicycle kicks, look at the goal he even scored against nigeria at the afcon in 92 jesus christ. because of this guy abedi i almost scrpped my face on concrete trying to practice this. ive never seen any african play like him..not even oppong weah. eto was good but he didnt play like abedi no way. yahya toure and weah plays similar to polo. eto plays similar to razak but abedi ...man tha guy was too good. no wonder everytime he had the ball opponents will foul him, hard. muahahaaaa poor guy. these white players they tackle him so hard abedi even gets angry muahahaaaaa.

Posts like these expose the hidden tribal inclinations of people like you? There is so much hype around names non akan. When did you live through Ghana football make the comparison? Yes Polo, Razak and Abedis were all good. Every footballer in Ghana looking high up to Osei Kofi dribbling wizard. He did not only dribble, he scored goals, he controlled the pace and the game, he was everything in a match, yet you biases and myopic thinking could only gaze on your moslem and non akans. Polo fizzled out of footballing and contributed so little to Ghana football so fast that he ca never be among any criteria for consideration. Defenders figured him out; just allow him to pace diagonally from the right centre circle through to the far left corner and watch him loop the ball to the opponents penalty box,. He was never seen to be effective anywhere else. Razak was powerful in his drive towards the opponents end but he wa not noted for his dribbling skills. Better dribblers like Albert Assuman, Baba Yara, Agyeman Gyau have all made their marks. If you ever saw Albert Assuman (baby Pele play you would sit in your corner and hype those whose times lasted in few years. Osei Kofi's dribbling skills spanned decades and his peers gave him his due. You are naive and inadequatelly informed

Yaw go back and check the records. Agyeman Prempeh then a player of Kotoko and a high school student suffered a serious injury months before the tournament and therfore did not make the team. Polo shared the right wing position with Kuntu Blankson. We had Joe Carr in goal for most of the tournament, then we had the likes of Isaac Acquaye, PSK Paha, James Kuuku Dadzie, Offei Ansah Hesse Odameten in defense, Adolf Armah ,Addai Kyenkyenhene Willie Klutse, Emmanuel Quarshie Abdul Razak in midfield while Opoku Afriyie, George Alhassan and Kayode led the Attack.
