  And also to suggest that Salah may not winner the the best player in the world cos he plays for an African country isn't correct. Oppong Weah won it with Liberia.

  Please even choosing our own AFRICAN FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR do you really believe the players performance at AFCON is key?
  Our own legend Abedi Pele won AFRICAN FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR 3 TIMES but never won AFCON
  Didier Drogba won the award 3 Times but never won AFCON
  Yaya Toure won the award 4 Times but only one AFCON and even that win of 2015 came when he had already won the 4 awards.
  Our own late Christian Atsu was selected as best player for AFCON 2015, but was not in the top 3 when best player of the continent was selected for that year.
  Victor Osihmen won the award in 2013 because of his exploits in helping NAPOLI to win the Serie A
  And the current winner Ademola Lookman though performed well at AFCON in Cote D'Ivoire but he won it because he led ATALANTA to win EUROPA league.
  Again the Hossam brothers of Egypt who won multiple AFCON medals did any of them ever voted as AFRICAN FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR?
  And when was the last time African based player was voted as the winner of the best player of the continent?
  So you might see Gallagher as racist for downplaying the continent's major tournament but the reality is that when selecting our own best player, performance of AFCON is not a major factor, and that could be the same for South America and other continents when selecting their best players.
  I was expecting that in 2024 the African best should have awarded to one of the Ivorian players who won the tournament or a key player of Al Ahly who won African Champoins league but rather gave it to a winner of 2nd tier league in Europe, so what do you expect.
  By the way AFCON is played every two years and in some cases annually.

  By the way Jamie Gallagher should know that this year's BALLON DOR winner, AFCON performances for our players will not be factored is because the winner will be selected before we play the AFCON in Dec, 2025.
