He suggested the creation of a Black Star Line, ocean liner, to take descendants of slaves back to Africa. Hence Ghana Black Star Line and Ghana Black Stars.

During the 18th and early 19th century a west Indian formed a shipping company called black stars to ship all blacks in the Americas facing slavery back to Africa. This impressed Nkrumah. When he was invited to help the independence struggle and was successful he named many things after it. Black star line, black star square, black star football and put black star in ethiopian flag for Ghana

As Osagyefo was educated in Lincoln University in America, he possibly read about him.
