He was later invited to join the u23 team, and guess what… he turned it down! In my view, that was a silly decision… because in all fairness, Afena wasn’t an exception striker…

  Issahaku who tasted the Blackstars did not consider himself bigger than the u23 game and you see where he is today? Forget about the worldcup bruhaha, its partly and majorly on him.
  It's time players understand that they need teams and teams don't need them. A team can always replace you at will, but you cannot replace a team at will. No player is bigger than Ghana.

  I agree with you perfectly my dear, we always say GFA shouldn't interfere in player selection, it's only the coach that has been mandated to invite a player for the national team.One of the criterias for calling a player is when playing actively at club level but AFENA was not consistent at club level hence the drop.However he was given another chance to re lunch his career but refused to honour the invitation which to me affected his progress as a player.Sometimes calmness and knowing the hazard associated with a particular work also helps a lot. SO WHO CAUSE AM.

  Dede ayew is 35, next year he will be 36 years and I don’t really have any problem with his age but what I age issues with is his performances coupled with his age in recent matches! The guy is ROCKING his age in our recent matches and he has flopped in all our matches for a long time but we ll see these SUCKERS so called EX PLAYERS coming out to defend Dede and how he was axed from the team!

  Discourse here on what Prince Tagoe has said is encouraging . We must all thate a leaf from it.
  Someone makes an interesting point that Afeni Gyan was not an exceptional footballer. But he fails to couch that in context.
  Many factors contributed to his inability to produce goals for Ghana. As a lone Striker, a range of mishaps happened his way: bad formation by Coach Addo who burdened only him with striking, selfish denial of passes to him by the offensive midfield, uncreative collective play that tossed impossible balls at him to chase, etc.
  Although he was young and athletic, these must have burnt him out and and reduced his goal scoring abilities.
  Lastly, Afeni had the right to reject playing for Black Starlets or Meteors. He had played at top level at Roma and probably was right to presume playing for B teams was a climbdown.
  This, of course, should have presented opportunities for wise-heads at GFA and MOYS to judiciously apply diplomacy to convince him. They could even have explained playing for Black Satelites stood him in good stead to hold his position in the Black Stars.
  To conclude, Prince Tagoe is right to highlight the cruel, unethical maltreatment of young, female, disable personnel in Ghana sports. This has been going on far too long in the form of: abrupt deselections as happened to Afeni, delays in payment, poor training facilities, etc.

  He was called to the U23 team and his handlers did him a great disservice. I don't know why he agreed to move from Roma. Bad decisions are his problems, not the world cup call up issue. Let's call a spade a spade
