Osman Bashiru wins day for Faisal

Kumasi, May 24, GNA - An 80th minute strike by substitute Osman Bashiru was all that King Faisal FC needed to overcome a stiff opposition from visiting Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals in their 20th Week Glo Premier League match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

The 1-0 score line has thus catapulted Faisal back to the race for the Champion's League slot.

It was however a hard fought victory for the home team as Liberty played well in most departments of the game and nearly punished Faisal in the 28th and 40th minutes but Maxwell Mensah and Kessemu Ghandi's attempts at goal respectively went off target.

Faisal's goal came as a matter of course having missed a clear chance in the 77th minute when Enoch Ebo Andoh's connection to a Prince Arko's inswinger hit an advancing Yaw Berko in goal for Liberty. The home team, however, learnt their lessons very well and three minutes later scored the match winner when substitute Bashiru intercepted a pass from Ebo Andoh, meandered his way through the defence before unleashing a diagonal shot that zoomed straight into the net. At the Anane Boateng Sports Stadium at Abrankese near Kumasi, Kessben FC beat Bechem Chealsea 3-2 in another Premier League encounter.
