President urges Stars to keep eyes on cup

Accra, Feb. 4, GNA - President John A. Kufour has congratulated the ever improving senior national team, the Black Stars for their sterling performance that saw them qualify for the semi-finals for the first time in 12 years after they defeated he Super Eagles of Nigeria on Sunday. In a message signed by Mr Andrew Awuni, Press Secretary to the President and Presidential Spokesman, it said the President lauded the phenomenal determination that characterised the play of the team. It said; "even with numerical disadvantage, they maintained their composure and dominated the game with superior tactical play that ensured victory was beyond doubt though it was a hard won success story".

The message said the continuous victory of the Black Stars has invigorated the spirit of the nation, with unparallel display of patriotism, great show of sportsmanship and the 'can do it' attitude, necessary for the success of the nation.

It said "as you rededicate yourselves to 'the host and win' mission, prepare yourselves for the battle ahead and be assured of the total support of my government and the country".
