Ghana-Nigeria: Gates to open at 10am

Accra, Feb. 2, GNA - The Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra would be open at 1000 hours on Sunday to allow in fans and spectators with match tickets for the Ghana Black Stars and Nigeria's Super Eagles quarterfinals encounter of the 26th MTN Africa Cup of Nations.

The crunch match is expected to draw a large following from host Ghana and their West African soccer rivals, Nigeria to the 45,000-seater stadium.

The Chief Operating Officer of the Ghana 2008 Local Organising Committee, Magnus Rex Danquah, in a press release copied to the GNA Sports, said the early opening of the stadium was a measure to prevent congestion and anxiety that usually accompanied such matches that often attracted large crowds to the stadium.

Mr Rex Danquah, therefore, called on the volunteers and other personnel with particular assignments at the stadium in connection with the tournament to endeavour to report for duty as early as 0900 hours. He wished the participating teams and their supporters good luck and prayed for an incident-free encounter.
