Who Is Who ...Ayew, Asamoah Or Kingston?

The 2010/11 Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) awards night hopes to
be very interesting with the assurance of many professional stars to grace
the occasion and the re introduction of text poll to involve the fans in
determining who wins.
Topping the agenda for the ceremony fixed for July 3. 2011 is the Sports
Personality of the year award to be decided between striker Asamoah Gyan,
goal keeper Richard Kingston and International Boxing Federation (IBF)
Bantam weight champion Joseph Agbeko.
The footballer of the year award is also a contest between Andre Dede Ayew,
Asamoah Gyan and Richard Kingston.
Sports fans who wish to be part of the programme have been authorized to
send texts to MTN and other telephone networks to select their choice.
For the Sports Personality one can text SPA for Kingson, SPB for Gyan and
SPC for Agbeko.
For the Footballer of the year, fans can text FPA for Andre Dede Ayew, FPB
for Asamoah Gyan or FPC for Richard Kingson.
“Sports fans can vote as many times as they can” said Willie Ezah, SWAG
General Secretary.
The awards ceremony to be held at the Banquet Hall of the State House will
honour others including the goal king, top scoring club, best sports
association chairman and others.
The text poll is to enable the sporting public to participate in the
decision making process of determining which of the three nominees in two of
the top most awards; the 2011 Sports Personality of the Year and Footballer
of the Years will go home with the prestigious title.
The SWAG Awards Night, the longest running sports awards in Ghana, for the
second time in its history will be sponsored by communications giants MTN
Ghana.
MTN Ghana Corporate Communications executive, Mawuena Trebarh said the
sponsorship package for this year’s event will be lucrative and the company
will tighten its relationship with the Association.
She counted numerous events and sports programmes that MTN has supported
like the FIFA 2010 South Africa World Cup, the Ghana FA Cup and some clubs
being sponsored by MTN.
In all about 28 award winners made up of male and females drawn from various
sporting disciplines will be decorated on the night.
