Tsakos Shipping company donates trophy to Tema Traditional Ccouncil

Tema, Aug. 19, GNA - Sectel Limited, Tema on behalf of Tsakos Shipping and Trading Company has presented a trophy and 500 US dollars to the Tema Traditional Council (TTC) towards the community's annual Ga traditional Homowo Gala competition.

The trophy would be presented to the winning team after the final match on Sunday, August 23 at Tema Manhean.

Seventeen out of the 22 Clans of the township are participating in the gala match which started on Saturday August 08 as part of a programme line-up for this year's Homowo celebrations. Mr Francis Otu, Head of Operations of Sectel Limited, who led a delegation of the company to make the donation, took the occasion to introduce Robert Macpherson-Smith, a London based football referee to members of the Council.

He said the referee was specifically brought into the country by the company to officiate the final match as part of their corporate responsibility to the town.

Nii Adjei Kraku the Second, Tema Mantse thanked the company for the gesture and the presence of the referee. He urged the various communities to encourage the youth to fully participate in sporting activities since they offered both entertainment and health benefits to the physical well being of all. 19 Aug. 09
