Stephen Appiah is a legend, says Alhaji Hearts

Alhaji Suleman Braimah aka Alhaji Hearts, former Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, has described ex-Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah, as a legend.

Speaking in an interview, ahead of the grand launch on the Stephen Appiah Testimonial Match on Monday April 13, at the Committee Hall of the Accra International Conference Center (AICC), Alhaji Braimah, popularly known as “Alhaji Hearts”, said Appiah was one of the few players he could be called a legend in Ghana football.

“His contribution to the Black Stars and Ghana football as a whole is admirable. He was an inspirational leader and we all admired his excellent and quality leadership.

“I was particularly happy when I heard that there was going to be a testimonial match in his honour. I told myself that I will invite myself to the event even if I am not officially invited by the organizers because Stephen is a like a son to me.”

Alhaji Hearts called on all football loving Ghanaians and corporate Ghana to support the player in the organisation of the match.

“My humble appeal to all Ghanaians is that we should all come out in our numbers during the event and support it to the letter.”

Primeval Media, an event and sports marketing outfit has been mandated by the former Black Stars captain to organise a Testimonial Match in his honour.

The grand launch on Monday April 13 will be used to unveil a series of activities ahead of the testimonial match and the expected foreign-based players.

Appiah spearheaded Ghana’s first ever historic qualification to the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) World Cup in 2006.
