New sponsorship deal a relief for clubs – Gruzah

King Faisal owner Alhaji Abdul Karim Gruzah has described the sponsorship deal for the Ghana Premier League as timely and a huge relief to clubs in the top-flight.

Gruzah was vociferous when the league started this season with a sponsor and complained on umpteenth occasion about it draining clubs.

The Ghana Football Association will early next week announce a locally-owned and fast growing First Capital Plus Bank as the headline sponsor.

The deal is reported to be worth US$ 10 million for the next five years. “Yeah it’s good news we are suffering and it will surely reduce some of the pressure on us, whether you are Kotoko, Hearts or King Faisal its sure a big news to hear,’’ Gruzah told GHANASoccernet.com

The news comes as a huge relief for clubs in the top-flight who have been complaining of lack of funds since Glo, the previous sponsor, defaulted on payment several times.

The league will now be named the First Capital Plus Premier League.
