Mexico and US armies join forces to provide tactical support for World Cup

In a move to strengthen security ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Mexico’s President, Claudia Sheinbaum, has signed a cooperation agreement with the United States to provide tactical support to the Mexican military.

The agreement brings together elite military personnel from both countries to ensure safety during the tournament.

Under the pact, 35 US personnel will travel to Mexico as part of a specialized brigade.

The team comprises highly-trained units, including Navy SEALs, special forces operatives, and a bomb disposal squad, all tasked with training and assisting Mexican forces in preparation for the massive influx of fans, teams, and media expected during the World Cup.

The initiative highlights the collaborative approach both nations are taking to guarantee the smooth running of one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
