Nana Brew Butler, former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has appealed to the administrators of Ghana football to pay critical attention to colts soccer as a way of developing new football talents for the country.

His comment follows the defeat the senior national team, the Black Stars, suffered at the hands of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

The Black Stars lost 0-2 in the semi-final encounter, meaning Ghana will have to defer to 2019 its quest to win a fifth Cup of Nations trophy since it last did in 1982.

Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM on Friday February 3, Mr Butler said: “I don’t want to single out one person at the GFA to blame for our performance in the tournament. All I will say is that we need to improve on our colts soccer as a way of improving our national teams.”

The Black Stars play for third place against Burkina Faso on Saturday February 4.
