The Ghana Football Association is set to hand out a huge sum of $500,000 to head coach Otto Addo as payout following the termination of his contract.
The coach signed a three-year deal with an option for a 24-month extension when his appointment was announced on Friday, March 15, 2024.
However, after two losses in friendlies against Austria and Germany, the contract was cut short.
GFA sacks Otto Addo
The GFA released an official statement on March 31, 2026, announcing that they had parted ways with Otto Addo and expressed appreciation for his efforts with the team.
It was noted that further communication regarding the next steps for the technical team would be made in due course.
While the decision brought excitement to fans who wanted him gone, it came with a heavy financial cost in terms of compensation for his premature departure.
It has now emerged that the nation will have to pay a large sum of $500,000 as a payout for the contract termination.
The bill is likely to be footed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as the government finances the Black Stars, even though the Ghana Football Association leads the charge in running the team.
