Gambia kick Ghana out of Africa U-17 soccer competition

KUMASI, Ghana (PANA) - Gambia kicked Ghana out of the Africa Youth Championship competition Saturday when they held Ghana's U-17 side to a 1-1 draw in Kumasi.

The Gambians, who beat the Ghanaians 1-0 in the first leg match in Banjul, thus qualified on a 2-1 aggregate.

The visitors scored as early as the 4th minute when Arthur Gomez exploited a defensive blunder to slot the ball home.

The Ghanaians had to wait until injury time to snatch the equaliser through Sulley Muntaru. But it was too late for the Ghanaians who have won several titles in the junior division in Africa and the world.
