Essien, Ayews to return to Black Stars in Sept.

Footy-ghana.com can authoritatively confirm that Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien will resume his international career with the Black Stars in September.

According to footy-ghana.com investigations, Essien now feels ready to return to the Black Stars after a successful loan spell at Spanish giants Real Madrid, after initially having concerns over his fitness.

The midfielder had asked for time off to assess his fitness after suffering two major injuries whilst playing for the Black Stars; one of which cost him a place in Ghana’s 2010 World Cup squad.

Footy-ghana.com can exclusively reveal that Essien believes that the Real Madrid experience has improved his fitness level, resulting in the decision to end his international exile.

Essien is expected to officially confirm his return to the Black Stars after his charity match, “The Game of Hope”, at the Accra Sports Stadium on June 8 2013.

Essien will thus be available to play for the Black Stars in September’s crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia in Kumasi.

In a related development, footy-ghana.com can also reveal that Marseille duo Andre and Jordan Ayew will, in the coming weeks, write a letter to the Ghana Football Association to end their temporary retirement from the Black Stars.

Footy-ghana.com understands that talks between the two brothers and the GFA through third parties have reached an advanced stage, paving the way for the two players to return.

Footy-ghana.com has learnt that Andre and Jordan Ayew also want to make themselves available for the Zambia game in September.
