Dede Ayew's goal sparks World Cup debate on social media

The talk of André Dede Ayew rejoining the Black Stars for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been reignited by social media users after he scored for NAC Breda.

The former Black Stars captain scored his first goal for NAC Breda during their 3-3 draw against Feyenoord on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

The Ghanaian attacker scored with a trademark header, pouncing on a cross and directing it neatly into the net.

After the goal, fans took to social media to shower praises on him, highlighting his ability to score such a goal at his age and help his club.

Based on this performance, some suggested Ayew could be in contention for a place in the Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup if he maintains his form.

However, others opposed the idea, arguing that the NAC Breda forward has already given his best to the national team, having served as captain, and should now focus on his club career.

Some also suggested that Ayew should step aside to allow younger players to shine in the national team.

Amid the debate, the final decision lies with head coach Otto Addo and his technical staff, who will determine whether Ayew merits a call-up based on their selection criteria.
