Dede Ayew boost for Marseille

Ghana teenage midfielder Andre Dede Ayew has been called to Marseille’s first-team, just two days after recovering from an ankle injury.

The 17-year-old is part of the 18-man squad for Wednesday’s Ligue One match against Valenciennes.

The son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele was expected to have made his debut in the France’s top league last week after impressing in all pre-season matches.

But he suffered the ankle injury two days before the start season which ruled him out of the opening game at home to Strasbourg.

His return is a boost to the former European champions who have drawn their opening two matches of the league.

Dede will also be available to make his international debut for Ghana next week, having turned down an offer to play for France.

The player currently holds both a French and Ghanaian passport.
