Ghanaian coach Christopher Nimley has welcomed the reported decision by Black Stars coach Otto Addo to phase out the senior members of the squad.

In an interview with Happy FM, Christopher Nimley expressed the viewpoint that some Black Stars players have become disruptive within the team and need to be dropped from the squad.

He emphasized the importance of transitioning the team from underperforming, ageing players to younger ones, noting that performance and unity should be the basis for inclusion in the team.

He mentioned Black Stars skipper Andre Dede Ayew and center-back Daniel Amartey as two players who have served their time and deserve to be dropped.

"If there is anyone on this team who cannot guarantee consistent performance, then he should be dropped. If I were handling this team, players like Daniel Amartey and Andre Dede Ayew, who has been around for 18 years, would be dropped.

"Nobody loves Dede more than I do, but performance-wise, he doesn't guarantee proper consistency. You don't build a team around someone who has been around for 18 years. We should move on. Why are we so scared of transitions? If we cannot transition the team, then obviously, you can't get better as a team. I believe that the team should move on from older players who do not foster unity," he said.

His comments follow reports that coach Otto Addo has informed Andre Ayew, Thomas Partey, Daniel Amartey, and other senior members of the squad that they no longer form part of his plans for the team.

According to a report by Angel FM, Otto Addo held separate meetings with the aforementioned players, during which he stated that the team would be built around young and in-form players.

The Black Stars are scheduled to face Mali in Bamako on June 6, followed by a match against the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on June 10.

Otto Addo is expected to announce the Black Stars squad for the two games next week.
