Coronavirus: Borders remain closed

Ghana’s borders remain closed until further notice, President Akufo-Addo has said.

In his long-awaited Coronavirus update on 31 May, the president explained that he has instituted some measures to ease the restrictions imposed on the country as a result of the outbreak of COVID-19.

President Akufo-Addo's 10th televised address to the nation took place on Sunday, May 31.

He said: “our borders remain closed until further notice.”

Akufo-Addo noted, however, that, there will be special arrangements for Ghanaians who are trapped overseas to be brought home.

The president had earlier lifted the ban on domestic flights after he placed parts of Accra, Kumasi, Kasoa and Tema under lockdown, using a law passed by Parliament.

The president stated that bars, beaches, night clubs, sporting activities and political rallies continue to be banned.

The president's announcement mimics what other countries are doing.

Clearly "following the science and the data" the cliché used by politicians around the world, for which they have now been exposed, is now put asunder, as these new measures are frolicking on a totally different tangent.
