Celebrity Golf Club wins Inter-Club Championship

Tema, June 17, GNA - Celebrity Golf Club defeated Tafo Golf Club by 17 and-a-half points to eight and-a-half points, to win the Second Inter-Club Golf Championship played at the Celebrity Golf Course at Sakumono, near Tema on Saturday.

Celebrity led by their captain Joe Ohemeng, pinned their opponents into their own half and were a delight to watch as they exhibited superb swings and team work.

The homesters continued their dominance over their opponents and succeeded in scoring more points through Ohemeng, Oswald Amuzu, Michael Owusu,, Francis Quartey and Kwasi Opoku. Tafo Club on the other hand got their points through the efforts of their Captain, Dr F.K. Oppong, Douglas Tetteh, Smiley Bannerman, Ayikwei Armah, Essel Kwamina and Major John Nyen. The event which was aimed at strengthening the already existing cordial relationship between the two Clubs was sponsored by Celebrity Golf Club.

Captain Ohemeng said plans were very far advanced to involve other Golf Clubs in the country in similar encounters. Dr Oppong expressed happiness about the performance of both Clubs and expressed the hope that their relationship would grow from strength to strength and help improve the sport among their members.
