Kotoko supporters urged to unite

Accra, June 17, GNA - Supporters of Kumasi Asante Kotoko have been called upon to rally behind the Club to enable it achieve and reclaim its former glory as one of the best Clubs in Africa. Mr Michael Cofie, Chairman of the Teshie-Nungua Supporters Union of the Club, (Circle 142) made the call at the Union's General Meeting in Accra on Saturday.

He said the situation where supporters were at each other's head did not augur well for the smooth running of the Club. Mr Cofie regretted that some members of certain Circles often decide to sit on the fence anytime things were going wrong in the Club instead of them coming together to contribute their quota towards the upliftment of the Club.

The Chairman appealed to the management of Kotoko not to pull out from the Confederation Cup competition but participate fully since that would give the players the exposure to enable them capture the ultimate trophy for the first time.

"No Cup is big or small", he said, adding "that we have not won the Confederation Cup before with our two attempts all proving futile, so we have to consider trying our luck this time round. Mr Cofie also suggested to the management of the club to embark on fundraising activities to gather enough funds for the maintenance and sustainance of the Club.

The Chairman outlined some plans of Circle 142 which he said includes embarking on a membership drive to win more members for the Fabulous Club. 17 June 07
