Ghana’s Black Meteors were held to a 2-2 draw by Premier League side Vision FC in a competitive friendly at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday, August 14, 2026, as coach Desmond Ofei continued to fine-tune his squad ahead of the upcoming qualifiers for the 2027 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.

The friendly offered Ofei another valuable opportunity to assess his players, experiment with tactical combinations and build the competitive sharpness required for the demanding qualification campaign.

Despite eventually being reduced to 10 men, the Black Meteors produced an impressive second-half response, scoring twice in the space of six minutes to establish a commanding position.

Owusu Agyapong broke the deadlock in the 64th minute, before Sherrif Alabani doubled Ghana’s advantage in the 70th minute, giving the Meteors a two-goal cushion.

Vision FC, however, responded strongly and refused to allow the numerical advantage to determine the outcome.

The Ghana Premier League side mounted a spirited comeback and pulled level through two penalty kicks, ensuring the encounter ended all square at 2-2.

The Black Meteors are building towards the 2027 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, which is scheduled to be staged in Egypt in November 2027.

The tournament represents an important platform for Ghana’s emerging generation of footballers and forms part of the pathway towards the country’s broader Olympic football ambitions.
