B.A. United congratulate former chairman

Sunyani, (B/A) July 16, GNA - The management and supporters of Brong-Ahafo United Football Club have congratulated Mr Kwadwo Yeboah Fordjour, former Chairman and a member of the Board of Directors of the Club for being bestowed with a National Award.

Mr Fordjour received the Order of Volta - Member Award as a Community Leader for his contribution to Civil Society and his meritorious services to the State.

Nana Yaw Amoako II, Board Chairman of the Club in a statement copied to GNA Sports in Sunyani said "We have no doubt about your illustriousness, selflessness, forthrightness and perseverance. "We are convinced that your devotion to duty and penchant to turn adversity into advantage are enviable character traits that have won you this most cherished national recognition", it stated. Nana Amoako said that the achievement of Mr. Fodjour had certainly enhanced the image of the Region and expressed optimism that it would impact positively on the youth and spur them on to attain higher heights.

"We say 'Ayekoo', you fittingly deserve to reap the fruits of your diligence in your lifetime", the statement added. The statement also extended it heartfelt felicitations to Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club for not only capturing the just ended Premier League trophy but also making inroads into Africa. "We are solidly behind you and are more than convinced that your diligence and avowed determination to succeed will culminate in your conquest of Africa once again", it stressed. The statement further congratulated Kpando Heart of Lions Football Club for qualifying to play in Africa and expressed the hope that the Club's scintillating performance put up on display in the Premier League would be replicated in the Africa competitions "to leave an indelible imprint on the continent".

It also commended Alhaji Karim Grusah, Chief Executive Officer of King Faisal Football Club, Alhaji M.N.D. Jawula, former Chairman of the GFA and Board member of Real Tamale United and Alhaji Sly Tetteh, President of Liberty Professionals as well as coaches E.K. Afranie, Akwasi Appiah, and other sports personalities who received the National Award in the sports category.

"May the Good Lord richly bless every one of you for your sterling contributions towards the upliftment of Ghana sports" the statement added.

Mr Fordjour in a telephone interview with the GNA Sports took the opportunity to thank President John Agyekum Kufuor for the honouring him with the award and also expressed gratitude to the people of the Brong Ahafo Region for their support and encouragement. 16 July 08
