Zaytuna Forward Joins Stars

Determined to achieve another feat as he did with yet-to-be relegated Zaytuna F/C, when he guided the team to earn qualification to join the elite division of Ghanaian soccer for the second time, tall and aggressive Zaytuna striker Leonard Datsomor has joined Prestea based former Premiership side Mine Stars after signing a two-year deal with the miners.

Datsomor, who was tipped by many followers of last season’s Division One League as a potential candidate for this season goal-king award after performing gallantly and scoring some impressive goals for Zaytuna during their campaign to the Premiership that earned them the ticket to join fellow Kessben F/C and Wa All Stars at the tail end off the competition after the Nania F/C, Okwawu United, Mighty Jets and Great Mariners ‘Mafia’ deal, was overshadowed by the likes of the Eric Bekoe’s, Dominic Adiyiah’s Osei Banahene’s and the Samuel Ayew Yeboah’s as they registered their names on the Onetouch Premiership scorers sheet on many occasions.

With reports making rounds that he was on his way to join Liberty Professionals after perhaps realizing that the chances of Zaytuna surviving this season’s Premiership appears to be very slim judging from their fourteenth placement on the league table after the competition ended, many have questioned Datsomor movement to join the Prestea lads.

Also more especially when Zaytuna team manager, Olloboi Commodore, had made it clear to the public that his side will never suffer relegation as they count the Professional League Board (PLB) and the GFA Status Committee for the awarding of six more points from Real Tamale United and Real Sportive respectively as they have lodged protest against them for fielding an unqualified player during their encounter with them.

However, investigations conducted reveals that Liberty Professionals were not able to comply with the figure quoted by Zaytuna, something which made Datsomor to join Mine Stars with the aim of qualifying the team to next season’s Premiership.

With the second transfer window of the Polytank Division One League coming to a close this Thursday, the miners can boast of big names like former Hearts of Oak forward, Reuben Senyo, Leonard Datsomor among other Premiership stars as officials of the club are bent on earning a return ticket to the elite division of Ghanaian soccer.

The second round of the Polytank Division One League is set to commence on August 2nd at all six zones.
