Ayew targets League title before Marseille exit

Ghana winger Andre Ayew has not yet given up on winning the French League title with Marseille before his transfer from Olympique Marseille.

The 25-year-old, whose contract with Marseille ends in June, is being chased by Newcastle United with the scout of the French club Jose Anigo claiming that he will be sold in the summer.

Marseille are five points adrift of defending champions Paris Saint-Germain as they prepare to face second-bottom Lens on Sunday, but Ayew believes winning the French Ligue 1 is still a realistic target.

“Well I think that the normal objective of the club is to be in the Champions League next season, but if we can do more we will try and do more because I think we have the players in the team to win the league,” Ayew told The Ligue 1 Show on beIN Sports.

Marseille has not won the French Ligue 1 title since the 2009-10 season.
