Swansea City player Andre Ayew is set to overcome the knee injury sustained against Tottenham Hotspur before the international break and play for the Welsh club in their Premier League game against Stoke City on Monday night.

The Black Stars vice-captain withdrew from international duty to recover from the knock as his international team-mates took on Canada in a friendly.

Ayew, however, returned to training on Thursday, going through the full routine with Swansea City’s first team.

Swansea City manager Gary Monk at his press conference on Friday also confirmed he had no injuries to worry about and that his players were fit for the game against Stoke City.

Monk told reporters:

“It’s a key period for us now. Every game is important, but we want to get better. All the players have come back from the break fit and in good shape, and it will be great to have this period together ahead of Monday.

“Stoke had an initial slow start to the season, but they have picked up in recent weeks. They signed a lot of quality players in the summer, and they have a strong squad.

“We had two good games against Stoke last season, and we enjoyed those battles. They have shown their quality in recent weeks and we’ll be expecting another tough game on Monday.”

Swansea City are unbeaten at home in the English Premier League this season and will hope to continue the run.

Andre Ayew would also want to continue the blistering form in the Premier League that has seen him score four after the slight injury trouble.
