Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola is in line to become the next manager of Liverpool following the dismissal of Arne Slot.
According to renowned sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish manager is in talks with Liverpool officials to finalise negotiations and agree on personal terms.
He stated that discussions are progressing rapidly as the club looks to make a decision as soon as possible ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

The journalist also clarified that Liverpool’s hierarchy has already decided to appoint Iraola as the next head coach.
Iraola is widely regarded as one of the most promising managers in the league, following Bournemouth’s impressive performances this season, which saw the club secure European qualification.
Arne Slot was sacked on May 30, 2026, after a detailed assessment of the club’s performance in the 2025/2026 season.
The Dutchman had guided Liverpool to a shock Premier League title last season after replacing club legend Jürgen Klopp in the dugout.
However, a poor title defence and a fifth-place finish reportedly prompted the club’s hierarchy to opt for a change in leadership.
