A citizen’s perspective: Black Stars have no choice but to win AFCON

Ahead of the Black Stars first match at the ongoing AFCON tournament in Gabon, some Ghanaian football enthusiasts have taken to social media to express their opinion on their expectations from the team in this year’s competition.

The Black Stars arrived in Gabon on Saturday January 14th, a day after they were scheduled to do so because of bad weather condition in UAE.

The Black Stars have not won the competition in the last 35 years but have found themselves in the semifinals in the last 5 editions, placing runners-up in two, 2010 and 2015.

The President Nana Akufo-Addo has urged the boys to go for gold and return with the title.

In a recent Facebook post, a fan made light of the events that characterized their preparations and urged them to end the trophy drought that has hit the country.

According to him, the Black Stars receive so much but give us little in return, therefore they should put up a good performance and come back home with nothing but the title.

The Black Stars play Uganda at 4pm today, January 17.
