rempeh College throws out 25 students out

Twenty-five students of Prempeh College in Kumasi have been withdrawn by the school's board for non performance.

Those affected include eight form-one students to be promoted to form two and 17 second year students who were to be promoted to form three.

Their results were said to have deteriorated as they failed in the second and third terms examinations.

A source told the Ghanaian Times that parents and guardians of the affected students were earlier informed of the poor performance of their wards but their performance did not change.

Meanwhile, the concerned parents and guardians have appealed to the Ashanti Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service to intervene in the matter.

The parents, in a letter signed by their spokesperson, Kofson Mensah, said, "we are appealing at this juncture to the authorities to tamper justice with mercy and recall the students and respectfully suggest that they be given the last chance".

"We are in no doubt that your decision is all for the betterment of the school but we are appealing for reconsideration of your decision".

Meanwhile, some of the parents have complained that the basis for the students’ withdrawal was not in line with the policy of the Ghana Education Service.
