Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the Ghana Union of Traders Associations (GUTA), Mr. David Kwadwo Amoateng, has advised the Electoral Commission (EC) to work according to the laws of the country amid the chaos surrounding the compilation of the voters’ register.

He was speaking in an interview on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show when he said: “I will plead with the EC to work according to the laws so that no one associates them with any political party. For now, I don’t see the Electoral Commission doing anything against the law”.

He noted, however, that the Electoral Commission needed to improve on their communication in order to earn the trust of Ghanaians.

“In their communication, they should be careful. The Electoral Commission has the support of Greater Accra GUTA if only it is fair”, he added.

Despite protests against the compilation of the new voters register by some political parties, the Electoral Commission of Ghana has said it will begin the compilation of a new register of voters while observing all the necessary safety measures to curb the spread of Coronavirus.
