EC ignored us when we attended the IPAC meeting – Ako Gunn

Deputy Communication Director of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Ako Gunn has said the Electoral Commission (EC) did not attend to them when they went for the IPAC meeting on Wednesday.

According to him, the EC “deliberately gave them a wrong time to deny NDC the chance to have access to the meeting.”

“EC gave us 10pm on the letter they sent us to us, we went there around 9pm and nobody attended to us, this is a clear indication that the Electoral Commission (EC) is not fair to us and are doing things behind the scenes we are not aware of," Ako Gunn told Kingdom 107.7 FM

But the Communications Officer of the Electoral Commission EC, Sylvia Annor, says the Commission provided updates on its plans for the compilation of the new register. It divided the political parties into two groups.

“The first group, which included the NDC and the ruling Patriotic Party (NPP), was scheduled to take place at 10am and the second at 2pm," Sylvia Annor told Kwame Tutu on Anopa Nkomo on Accra-based Kingdom FM 107.7.

As part of the measures to ensure Ghanaians comply with the strict protocols during the compilation of the new voters’ register at various polling stations, the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) has outlined some strict protocols to be adhered to in preventing the spread of the Coronavirus.
