Accra Psychiatric Hospital seeks SOS

Accra, Dec.10, GNA- The Accra Psychiatrist Hospital has called on public spirited individuals and organisations to adopt wards at the medical facility to promote the efficient and quality care of the 1,200 patients.

Mr. Emmanuel Owusu, Senior Nursing Officer at the Hospital, made the appeal at the weekend, when the staff of the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Branch of the Barclays Bank donated assorted goods worth 12 million cedis to the medical authorities for the upkeep of the patients. Mr. Owusu, who received the donation on behalf of the acting Chief Psychiatrist, Dr Akwasi Osei expressed the need for the renovation and furnishing of the wards.

Mrs. Deborah Yeboah, Customer Service Advisor of the bank, who presented the items, said it was part of the bank's national celebration of Make a Difference Day (MAD), which was launched on Tuesday, December 6, 2005.

Staff of the bank was joined by members of the Pentecost University Chapter of the Students' World Assembly, Dynamic Youth Club and the Global Youth Action Network to clean the premises of the hospital as part of MAD.

Mr Kwame Frimpong, Regional President of Students' World Assembly said MAD was part of the corporate responsibility of the bank.
