Violence In Films Wrecks Havoc On Society - Study Shows

Sekondi, - 8 June Research has shown that animation in films being screened on television, constitute one of the greatest sources of violence in society. The research, according to Mr Ashrifie Quao, Western Regional Deputy Director of the Department of Social Welfare, indicated that these films can motivate the child to believe that self-gratification can be attained by the use of violence or force. Mr Quao made these observations yesterday when he spoke on the "Causes and prevention of violence against the youth- Social and Psychological Implications" as part of activities marking Nurses Week in Sekondi. Mr Quao remarked that apart from the use of cartoons, violence against a child through verbal attacks in the home also influence how the child behaves later in adulthood. The impact of violence on the youth's life is that he tends to be aggressive and at times, unable to distinguish which behaviour is acceptable to society or not.
