Leave a legacy behind by winning something for Ghana - Kofi Abbrey advises players

The Black Stars The Black Stars

1982 AFCON winner Windsor Kofi Abbrey has tasked the current generation to prioritize on leaving a legacy before their time expires.

Abbrey belongs to the batch of Black Stars players who won the fourth and last AFCON trophy for Ghana.

Its been 38 years since with Ghana coming close thrice in 1992, 2010 and 2016, but agonisingly missing out on the continent’s most coveted football trophy on all those three occassions.

Often times, the current generation of players have been tagged as mercenaries who are not really committed to the nation’s cause but just the money.

To help erase this notion and cement legendary status, Kofi Abbrey has advised modern-day national team players on the need to work hard and make a case for themselves.

He told Asempa FM, “I will advise that they need to work hard and leave a legacy”.

“This time our players haven’t won anything. Its getting close to 40 years (since Ghana won a cup)”.

“Since we won the 1982 AFCON, Ghana has never won any trophy again, so I will urge them to work hard on cementing legendary status by winning something for Ghana. So that they can also be remembered that way”.
