600 PWDs in Asuogyaman receive support from NPP parliamentary candidate

600 physically challenged persons in the Asuogyaman District of the eastern region have received assorted items from Mr. Paul Asare Ansah who is the NPP parliamentary candidate for Asuogyaman to ease the hardship imposed on them and put smiles on their faces as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Representatives of the PWDs from various communities within the district including Anum, Boso, Atimpoku, Akrade, Akosombo, Tusker, Aboasa, etc, received the items on behalf of their members at a short ceremony at Mr. Ansah’s residence at Aboasa on Saturday, April 4, 2020.

The items included 600 bags of rice, 600 litres of cooking oil and 600 crates of eggs.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Ansah who is also former Director of the Ghana Ports And Harbours Authority and the Asuogyaman Constituency Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2020 General Election said he was motivated to support the physically challenged who were bearing the worst brunt of the restrictions of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Life has become difficult for persons with disabilities during the coronavirus pandemic,” said the aspiring legislator. “Government cannot do it all alone, every Ghanaian must be involved.”

The aspiring Member of Parliament who acknowledged the difficulties a lot of people were going through as a result of the pandemic, asked them to accept his widow's might and appealed for more support for persons with disabilities.

He pledged his continued support for the people as it was something he appreciated doing.

"I don’t have to wait to become MP to support the needy, I’ll never get tired of supporting them," said Mr. Ansah.

He called on the people to support him to become the Member of Parliament to enable him do more for the area and urged them to vote for him and President Akufo-Addo in the 2020 elections to continue with their good works.

Miss Eva Andorful who is secretary to the Persons Living With Disability in the Asuogyaman District in expressing her appreciation to the aspiring legislator described the gesture as “beyond our expectations.”

Miss Andorful who lamented the hardships endured by PWDs in the district said majority of her members depended on the district assembly common fund and family support to survive. “Life is difficult for us,” said Miss Eva as she called on civil society organizations and other benevolent organizations to offer a hand of assistance.

They were grateful to Mr. Ansah for the gesture which they indicated would go a long way to alleviate the plight of the PWDs which has been worsened by the restrictions of the pandemic.

The PWDs commended the parliamentary candidate for the wonderful gesture he had extended to the disadvantaged in society and appealed to all to rally behind him in the 2020 election.

The beneficiaries who spoke in an interview also commended the NPP parliamentary candidate for the gesture and called on all and sundry to give him all the support to do more to assist the poor and vulnerable in society.

Mr. Ansah two weeks’ ago donated 200 sets of covid19 prevention items valued at over Ghc 37,000 to all communities in the Asuogyaman district.
