Adaklu inaugurates committee to fight coronavirus

The Adaklu District Assembly has formed a seven-member task force to assist the District Public Health Emergency Management Committee (DPHEMC) to enforce surveillance system against COVID-19.

The Committee, under the chairmanship of Mr. Charles Azagba, Adaklu District Director of Health Services, is to ensure that people in the District complied with the health safety measures outlined by the World Health Organization.

Mr. Phanuel Kadey Donkor, Adaklu District Chief Executive who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency in an interview, said the task force would visit all the 91 communities in the District to ensure the people adhered to precautionary measures.

He said the Assembly released GHC7,000.00 to the District Directorate of Health to procure sanitizers for distribution to all health facilities.

Mr. Donkor who is also the Chairman of the DPHEMC, said a number of veronica buckets and other items would also be purchased, adding “the District is also expecting 100 veronica buckets from the central government soon".

The DCE said the task force stopped a planned funeral at Adaklu Blidokope last Friday and said "we will not allow any individual, group or community in the District to go contrary to the directives of his Excellency the President."

Mr Donkor appealed to the people to take personal hygiene seriously and practice handwashing regularly.
