The Military High Command says news that seven serving soldiers have contracted the deadly coronavirus is false.

A statement signed by Director of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces, Colonel E Aggrey-Quashie, said the attention of the military was drawn to the “false publication” on social media.

“We wish to inform the public that the story is false and should be disregarded.”

The statement further cautioned individuals involved in publishing fake news to desist from that practice.

It, therefore, called for concerted efforts to sensitize the general public instead of spreading fake news.

“At this sensitive time in our national life, the collective effort of all and sundry should be aimed at sensitizing the public on preventive measures against COVID-19, and not the spread of false information.”
