Former General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong has warned Christians to desist from spiritualizing the coronavirus outbreak.

Rev Opuni who believes there is nothing wrong with people activating their faith in times of challenges, also advised that there is the need to observe necessary precautions and not overly rely on prayers.

In an interview with Neat FM, he established that although God uses miracles to glorify himself, Christians will be doomed if they ignore the safety tips and act carelessly.

“ Let’s all be careful out there. Christians and pastors should adopt proper care of themselves. When Ebola came, Ghana was not fortunate enough not to encounter any of such. Let’s all pray against this disease but while at it, let’s not over-spiritualize it,” he stated

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo during his address put a ban on all public gatherings including conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, church activities, and related events as part of measures to stop the spread of coronavirus in the country.

He said the ban will be in force over the next four weeks.
