1-District-1-Warehouse real – Agric Minister

Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Afriyie Akoto Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Afriyie Akoto

The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has said the one district one ware house project is on course.

He said the project will aid in food storage when completed.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in July 2018 launched the One District One Warehouse project.

The President said at the launch that: “We are constructing 50 warehouses across the country this year to provide for storage for the output of our farmers. For too long has farm produce gone rotten in Ghana because we do not have any structure for storing and at the end of the year when these 50 warehouses are in place, that is also going to be a thing of the past”.

A cross section of the public believe the government has not lived up to its promise in relation to this project.

But taking his turn at the Meet The Press series in Accra on Tuesday, 10 March 2020, Dr Akoto said: “People are asking where are these warehouses? “There are a lot of doubting Thomas’ but I can take their hands and take them to the main towns to see what is happening. I can take them to Kumasi, to Navrongo and to Wa, the warehouses are there.”
