KNUST campus still a security zone – REGSEC to management

KNUST CAMPUS KNUST CAMPUS

The Ashanti Regional Security Council(REGSEC) has reminded Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST) that the declaration of the school as a security zone is still in force and must be upheld until further notice.

According to the Council, in this regard, anybody who directly or indirectly engages in activities that may disturb the peace on the campus shall be sternly dealt with in accordance with the law.

This comes after the Council’s attention was drawn to the celebration of the 2019/2020 Hall Week of the various Halls of Residence scheduled for the period of February 26th to April 11, 2020.

A statement issued by the Ashanti Regional Coordination Council on behalf of the REGSEC “urged the management of the KNUST to ensure that all activities held on campus do not include demonstration or activities of mass movement that will disturb the peace on the University Campus.”

“It is the expectation of the Regional Security Council that students are reminded that the declaration of the University as a security zone is still in force and must be strictly observed,” the statement added.
