UG students express worry over state of some lecture halls on campus

Despite several efforts by University of Ghana management to ensure that it provides the needed tools for effective teaching and learning activities on its campuses, it appears more must be done in the area of infrastructure as some of its academic facilities are not in the best of shapes

These include the Jones Quartey Building and Central Cafeteria (CC), New ‘N’ Block (NNB) and the GCB Main Building.

Most students attend their lectures at these four facilities.

On a campus tour to ascertain the state of some of these buildings, UniversNews observed that some of the challenges had existed for over a year.

For example, in JQB Room 22, there is a wobbling ceiling fan that gets students jittery anytime it is in operation.

“I feel threatened anytime I go for lectures at JQB because of the way the fans wobbles. Most times, I can’t even concentrate during lecture hours. School’s authority should do something urgently about this,” one student lamented.

There are similar sentiments from students who attend lectures at CC, NNB, and GCB.

They have complained about the poor installation of projectors among other things in these academic facilities.

“Sometimes I don’t even feel like attending lectures in GCB because of the poor projections and also bad sound system. When the lecturer is teaching you can even hear the echoes of his voice. Which makes class really boring and annoying,” one Linda Ofori told UniversNews.
